NakedSignal

Capabilities

Independent checks for when a method or a data source changes

NakedSignal checks what happens to reported numbers when a method, instrument, data source, vendor or model changes. We take on a defined task at a fixed price, directly or as a subcontractor inside a prime contractor's existing contract.

What we do

Four deliverables

Method comparison and bridging

A paired comparison of an old and a new method, instrument or data source: bias and agreement limits, bias at each decision limit, a bridging factor with its uncertainty, and a plain statement of whether the two series can be joined.

Source-change and data quality checks

Rule-based and statistical checks of completeness, consistency, plausibility and drift over time, with a ranked list of the records and periods that need a human look.

Model and estimate verification

A separate re-run of a published estimate or model from its stated inputs, with every difference from the published figures explained.

A methods note you can hand on

A written methods note for a technical or government reader, with the code and inputs handed over so the result can be re-run.

How we work

A defined task, fixed in advance

Fixed price per task

Quoted after a short scoping call, against a written scope and a list of deliverables.

Runs where the data is

Analysis in Python, reproducible from your own data inside the environment you choose. Only the results you approve leave it.

Your terms

We can sign your non-disclosure agreement and your data-handling terms, or those of the prime contractor you work under. How we handle data is set out on the security page.

Status

Where we are today

Tested on public and synthetic data; not yet run on a customer's data.

We have no federal contract or subcontract history yet. We would welcome a small first task, scoped so that you can judge the fit from the result.

Talk to us about a task

Tell us what is changing, in which data, and what the result has to support.
